  4. When we see miles of yellow in Alberta, it is almost always canola. This doesn't seem to be the exact same colour, however. (Canola used to be called rapeseed, but nobody wanted to use rapeseed oil for cooking, did you know?)

  11. So peaceful with the blue sky and yellow fields. I think the plants are rapeseed (Brassica napus). Have a nice week:)

  13. That looks like California. I drove to Santa Cruz the other day, along the coast, and it was just gorgeous, lots of yellow blooms along the way.

  19. Great minds think alike. I also posted a photo of one of those golden fields that I snapped on a recent trip. I had to do some research to learn what it was.

    That field is planted with Rape. Rapeseeds are used to make canola oil. It is also used as a cattle feed and to make a form of fuel.

  32. It looks like yellow mustard to me -- here in California, farmers plant it as a cover crop, then they plow it under to add nutrients to the soil.
